First session of the new term

The lesson is nearly over for the day, and I have been impressed with the levels of engagement already among the group. I wasn’t sure whether I would introduce the reading activity, as it can be felt as a barrier for many, but I do feel that it is important to find time in a day for quiet study. Ros Ollin has written about silence in the classroom, and we can often forget that in all our attempts to create an active, busy session, the oppportunity for reflection can be missed.
I am also aware that information overload is likely, especially in a first session, and I hope that by skimming over many of the(important) course details, we can return to them later with a better sense of the trainees being informed, rather than bamboozled.
